New Balance is officially celebrating its long-standing 99x series this year, releasing limited-edition colorways of each major version leading up to the debut of the 990v6. For now, check out the 990 Version 2, coming this month.

New Balance’s 99x series has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, driving New Balance to produce more and more pairs of the most popular versions. Last month, the Boston brand has announced a special series of releases celebrating their most well-known running line, delivering the shoes in their original color schemes leading up to the release of the 99x line’s latest addition, 2022’s 990v6. The celebration kicked off last month with a re-release of the original 990, complete with special “Version” branding and packaging, as well as New Balance’s classic grey color scheme. Now, NB has announced the next release in the series, the 990v2. Once again cast in the New Balance’s greyscale colorway, this release swaps all embroidered branding for bright red stitching, along with a two-tone midsole to complete the look.
