New Balance’s 99x series has blown up over the past few years, causing the Boston brand to rerelease some fan-favorites. This week, the classic 998 returns in a brand new “Linen” color scheme, available now.

New Balance’s penchant for vintage running shoes has gained them a lot of attention recently, as their ’80s and ’90s running sneakers have returned with increasing frequency in the last two years. Most popular among these retro releases are those from the 99x family, a long line of running sneakers New Balance first began developing in 1982, and still lives on to this day with new models. However, fans of the originals still crave the shoes they wore in the 80s and 90s, and New Balance is more than happy to oblige. This week, the brand debuted a new colorway of the famous 998 runner, a hefty shoe constructed from mesh, leather, and pigskin suede and mounted on top of a thick ABZORB midsole. The latest color scheme for the shoe has somewhat of a “Linen”-like ook to it, stacked with varying shades of white, grey and tan, with just a hint of minty green freshness to complete the look.
