New Balance’s classic 997 has taken a bit of a backseat this year as the brand focuses on other new models, though that has not altered its status as an all-time great. This week, the beloved runner returns in a colorful new grey and orange color scheme.

Despite New Balance’s focus on new silhouettes like the 327 and the revival of some classics, the 997 remains a staple among fans of the brand. First released in 1990, the straightforward runner has evolved numerous times in the past 30 years, though the original remains our favorite. This week, the classic 997 Made in US returns in a new color scheme, adding some colorful hints to a neutral base for an exciting new look. The latest begins with a bright yellow nylon base layer for the toebox and upper collar, reinforced by grey suede overlays on the quarter panels, heel, and mudguard. Orange hints stick out from underneath the heel counter and lacing system, while a blue plastic heel clip and ‘N’ outline complete the look.
