New Balance’s 991 silhouette has been popping up in plenty of new colorways this year, in celebration of the silhouette’s 20th anniversary. Today, we are taking a closer look at a new Made in England pair, decorated in stunning earth tones.

The sneaker community is still largely fixated on New Balance 992 anniversary celebration from 2020, waiting with bated breath for the latest in the Boston brand’s excellent string of collaboration and special projects from the past 12 months. However, fans of the brand will also be quick to note that 2021 marks 20 years of another classic 99X family member, the 991. Luckily for us, New Balance has been releasing low-key hits with the 991 all year long, crafting excellent new colorways in the brand’s Flimby, England production facility. The latest in a line of strong releases from Flimby casts the 991 in a palette of smooth earth tones, beginning with a brown mesh base layer before adding suede overlays in brown, gold, olive green, and sand.
