Summer has yet to properly start, and already we are getting early looks at new sneakers more apt for a Fall seasonal catalog. New Balance’s 990v4 is the culprit this week, surfacing in a freshly baked “Pumpernickel” brown, coming soon.
Made in USA has become New Balance’s flagship line for interesting new colorways for their most popular sneakers. The line’s catalog of silhouette is adjusted each year, swapping out models with plenty of styles available for something that hasn’t been available for a while. There are some caveats, like the 990v4 that has remained a part of the MiUSA catalog since it’s introduction in 2016, sticking around for the rise of the Boston brand and Teddy Santis’ appointment as creative lead for Made. This week, the v4 has surfaced in a new colorway for 202,6, which is reportedly releasing soon but seems more appropriate as a late Summer or Fall release. the “Pumpernickel” look features warm brown suede for the bulk of the shoe’s paneling, as well as the midsoles and laces. The base layer comes in white mesh with soft pink perforated leather mid layers. Traces of Alabaster yellow appear along the N logos, inner lining, and sole accent to complete the look.

The latest addition to New Balance’s Made in USA line of the 990v4 does not have a release date yet, but is expected to drop during either Summer or Fall 2026. The new look colors the runner primarily in “Pumpernickel” brown suede, paired with Pink Chalk accents, white mesh, and Alabaster yellow hits. Pairs will be available through both NB and select retailers for $185.
