New Balance first teamed up with Japan’s M. Lab atelier back in 2020 to create a special-edition release of the classic 1300. Now, the two have crafted a luxurious pair of the 327 from premium Tochigi leathers, handmade in Japan.

New Balance’s Japanese division has been pumping out some of the brand’s most interesting releases of the past few years, including a few Made in Japan pairs of popular models, with a high-end twist. Back in 2020, NB teamed up with local manufacturer M. Lab atelier to create the Made in Japan 1300, crafted from high quality leathers and suede. Now, the two are running it back, this time releasing a limited version of the 327, constructed entirely from Tochigi leather, a brand native to the country. This pair features the rustic brown leather across the entirety of the upper, which will likely wear over time, transforming the look to a polished, darker iteration. Lighter brown laces and a white & gum sole unit complete the design, while special Made in Japan tongue labels add a simple flourish to the limited-edition release.
