New Balance’s 1500 model turns thirty-five years old in 2024, and the Boston brand is celebrating the iconic runner with a special Made in UK edition, cast in their classic shades of grey.
The New Balance 1500 originally released in 1989, intended as a multi-sport shoe with a focus on basketball and tennis. The model also serves as a suitable distance running shoe, and was designed with input from MIT professors. Designed by Steven Smith, a legendary footwear designer responsible for a number of adidas Yeezy models, the shoe is getting special treatment for its big birthday. New Balance is set to release a “35th Anniversary” style from the Made in UK program, assembled in their England manufacturing facility. The look mixes white underlays with dark grey overlay panels, adding small hints of navy blue to the midsole and mesh panels for a special look.
