Back in 2018, Japanese streetwear brand NEEDLES pulled the Reebok Beatnik sandal from the brand’s archives, initiating the silhouettes grand return in 2020. Now, they are taking on the Beatnik Moc, dropping this month.
Reebok’s Beatnik sandal was one of our favorite shoes in the 2020 shelter-in-place era, a slip on silhouette with enough function to take outdoors. Originally released in 1994 as a camping shoe, the Beatnik saw a wave of new colorways just a few years ago. The return of the model was initiated by Japan’s NEEDLES just two years prior, when they release an under-the-radar pair exclusively in Japan featuring their signature butterfly logo. Now, NEEDLES is taking on the new Beatnik Moc version of the shoe, releasing a total of four pairs in either beige or black colors with purple butterflies. The two versions of the shoe arriving this month include one with the embroidered arthropod all over the upper, while a simpler version adds the logo to the heels of a patchwork upper constructed from suede and nubuck.
