Marvel is expanding their list of sneaker collaborators this year, branching out from their string of adidas releases to lend their characters to other brands, like PUMA. This week, a three-piece collaboration between Marvel, the German sneaker giant, and The Boondocks has surfaced, including this “Black Panther” pair of the RS-X.
Marvel’s new collaboration with PUMA is set to arrive later this month. The project features a third collaborator, and a somewhat interesting choice in The Boondocks. It is currently unclear exactly how the iconic show fits in here, save for their use of Black superheroes as well as featuring images of Riley & Huey Freeman on the insoles. The third pair in the project takes its inspiration from the Black Panther, Wakanda’s warrior king who protects the hidden nation. This is the second pair of the RS-X in the series, alongside the Blade-inspired look. Thie pair features a black mesh base for the upper, adding synthetic overlays with a carbon fiber print. The PUMA side stripes are given a jagged new look frequently seen around the neckline of the Panther suit, cast in blue as the shoes’s accent color.
