Ibn Jasper and Converse have reunited, following up on their debut collaboration from 2019. This time, the two are taking inspiration from motorsport, producing two colorways of the classic One Star, dropping this week.

The last time we saw a team-up from designer Ibn Jasper and Converse, the two had created a special-edition Pro Leather. Inspired by Dr. J’s pregame outfits, the release brought a new level of luxury to the classic basketball shoe. Now, the pair has reunited, going to work on another essential Cons silhouette, the One Star. This time around, Jasper’s inspiration for the shoe is less formal, shifting from pregame style to American muscle cars. Citing Overhaulin’, a car modification show, Jasper and Converse are drawing a line between muscle car bumpers and the bumpers on vulcanized sneakers as their starting point. Launching in black & white colorways, this One star features a reworked rubber outsole that wraps up and around both the toe and heel sections of the shoe. Other changes include a reworked lacing system, heel pull tabs, and race flag graphics on the tongues.

The upcoming project from Ibn Jasper and Converse, featuring a modernized take on the classic One Star, has been scheduled to release later this week, on May 20th, 2022. Taking inspiration from motorsport, the black and white colorways will be available directly from Converse as well as select retailers for $150.
