2022 marks forty years since the opening of New Balance’s Flimby, Cumbria factory. Teaming up with Dover Street Market, the two have crafted a beautiful grey version of the classic 991 to honor the occasion.
New Balance’s MADE series represents the brand’s top-of-the-line footwear. Manufactured in small batches by hand in factories in the United States and England, the Made label is your guarantee of New Balance’s high standards for quality. So, with this year marking the fortieth anniversary of the brand’s Flimby factory in the United Kingdom, the Boston brand has tapped local retailer Dover Street Market London to create a limited-edition release in honor of the anniversary. Tapping the 991 for their canvas, this Made in UK version sports a dark grey colorway, broken up by grey mesh underlays and pale olive mid layers. DSM branding adorns both the tongues, while a special 40th Anniversary instep adds some personality to the shoes. Finally, a Dover Street Market-branded heel and tongue tags commemorating the 1982-2022 dates complete the look.

The upcoming Dover Street Market x New Balance 991 Made in UK has been scheduled to release later this week, on April 15th, 2022. The neutral color scheme will be available directly from the DSM website for $274 alongside their various retail locations, with no wider release currently planned.
