California-based retailer BAIT is known for their love of all things, nerdy, particularly leaning into anime and manga. This week, the brand announced a new project with Reebok, casting some classic shoes in colorways inspired by Astro Boy.
Reebok and BAIT have routinely teamed up for special collaborations, highlighting various intellectual properties in the form of limited-edition sneakers. From Ghostbusters releases to Toy-Story-themed pairs, and even a project with rapper YG, they have a knack for turning some of our favorite characters into wearable art. This week, the two unveiled their latest collaboration in this realm, which sees them tapping the Astro Boy brand to create two pairs of shoes based on the famous multimedia character. First up, the Club C Stomper, a silhouette inspired by the Alien movies, receives a crisp white leather upper, printed with blueprints displaying Astro Boy’s inner mechanisms and functionality. The second pair in the collection is the Instapump Fury, which features a more up-close look at Astro Boy’s mechanics, and is cast in black with bold accents in red and green, reminiscent of the character’s own costume.
BAIT X REEBOK X ASTRO BOY COLLECTION RELEASE INFORMATION
The latest capsule collection from BAIT and Reebok, which sees them teaming up with the Astro Boy IP, has been scheduled to release later this week, on May 20th, 2022. Featuring the Instapump Fury and Club C Stomper silhouettes, the project will be available directly from Reebok and BAIT, though the latter retailer has yet to officially their release plan. The Club C variant will come with a price tag of $160, while the Instapump will retain its usual $200 tag.
