The partnership between Japanese fashion label AURALEE and New Balance is growing, having kicked off in 2021 with their first collaborative release, the NB 550. Now, the two are showing off three colorways of the XC-72, dropping next Fall.

Japanese fashion label AURALEE first teamed up with New Balance last year, debuting their collaboration with a limited-edition release of the 550. Featuring a vintage-style off-white coloring and a simple color blocking, the fresh take was one of the best releases we saw from the Boston footwear brand in 2021. Now, it appears the relationship between AURALEE and New Balance is growing stronger, thanks to the appearance of three colorways of the XC-72 at the Japanese brand’s FW22 show last week. Cast in tonal cream, brown, and electric blue, the AURALEE XC-72 recasts the silhouette in luxurious suede outer layers, mixing various shades of the same color for a beautiful layered effect across the shoe. While the release of these sneakers are still a ways off, we are still patiently waiting on the release of the AURALEE 2002R, set for sometime this Spring.

The next release from Japanese label AURALEE and New Balance, this time featuring the XC-72, has been set to release sometime in Fall/Winter of 2022, though no specific date has been announced yet. Arriving in three exciting colorways, the AURALEE XC-72 will likely come with an elevated price tag of at least $150, releasing from select New Balance accounts.
