Early this year, we heard word of an upcoming Jumpman collection bringing together four underrated classics for the Black Pack. This week, we have an early look at the Air Jordan 15’s “Snakeskin” edition, releasing this Fall.
Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 15 is one of the most unusual sneakers in his signature line. The silhouette debuted in 1999 during Mike’s second retirement stint, when industry insiders were questioning whether the Air Jordan line should retire along with him. Jordan Brand forged ahead anyway, releasing one of the most disputed silhouettes in their history. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the shoe was inspired by the X-15 plane, at the time the world’s fastest manned aircraft. The shoe’s ‘beak’ at the collar was the most divisive piece, though the Kevlar material choice also drew criticism with the way it wore over time. Tinker cited this silhouette as the least favorite of his Jumpman designs.
Nonetheless, the Air Jordan 15 amassed a cult following in the twenty-seven years since its debut. Fans of the model love its standout style from previous models, especially the aircraft-inspired look. This year, the AJ15 made a return in a new “Muslin” color scheme, altering the pointed tongue in favor of a slim, sleek bootie shape for a more approachable look. The newly updated version has now surfaced in it’s Black Pack edition, a collection that gathers Jordan 14-17 in one unified series. The AJ15 from the project gets a mix of black and grey tones for the base, adding textured snakeskin leather to the main panels of the upper for an extra luxurious spin.

This pair from the series brings a snakeskin textured material to the main body of the AJ15, adding a luxury element to the retro model for a fun new twist.
