Jordan Brand is on the verge of unveiling their next mainline performance model, the Air Jordan 41. Ahead of the official debut, leakers have dredged up official images of the model’s “University Red” color scheme.
The turnaround of numbered Air Jordan models in recent years has been delightful to watch. After a rocky few years with the series of late 30s silhouettes, the introduction of last year’s Air Jordan 40 was a breath of fresh air. The new style was a clean slate, literally, inspired by the simplicity of classics like the OG AJ1, while offering a simple canvas for the Jumpman to iterate on. In addition to the 40s standard-issue styles, the brand used the silhouette to pay homage to past classics, rehashing beloved colorways and weird concepts like the ultra-high-top 4028. This week, we have the first official look at the Air Jordan 41, building on the new identity established with the AJ40, featuring a clean, minimal shape and construction ripe for interesting colorways. The model features a mesh underlay with a web-like pattern across it, applied via a rubberized material similar to the Nike Ja 3. No word yet on what sort of cushioning tech is hidden under the hood, but outsole is all we can see of the sole on the outside, with the addition of a clear plastic piece at the midfoot housing a carbon fiber plate.
