Jordan Brand has officially unveiled this year’s entry for the Wings Program, a special pair of the Air Jordan 13 in black, with a wear-away denim upper revealing colorful grpahics underneath.
The Wings Program from Jordan Brand is one of their most successful community outreach initiative of the past several decades. Started in 2015 by executive Howard White, the charitable effort operates through scholarships, design education, and mentorship opportunities for youth, focused on basketball hubs around the world. The Jumpman celebrates the achievements of Wings through an annual sneaker release like the 2023 AJ2 honoring Howard White himself, and last year’s tenth anniversary Jordan 5. This week, the brand is preparing for its latest release, the Air Jordan 13.
This year’s Wings release from Jordan Brand celebrates over ten years of the program’s history with a very special edition of the Air Jordan 13. The model is simple at first glance, donning an upper of jet black leather paired with black denim. The denim panels feature small rips in place of the AJ13’s usual dots, the first nod to the shoe’s wear-away construction. Once the denim is sufficiently worn away, the panels reveal a colorful graphic underneath depicting the Wings journey from its origins to modern day impact. Inside the box is a diagram showing off what each doodle stands for. Finally, metal Jumpan branding on the tongues and Wings branding at the toes complete the look.
