German retailer AFEW’s history for thorough, detailed collaborations and the stories that go alongside them is undefeated. This week, the store is reuniting with Saucony for the “Time & Space” Shadow 5000, taking inspiration from physicist Albert Einstein.

Saucony has been known to let their collaborative partners go absolutely balls-to-the-wall in regards to the details of their footwear projects, and this week’s exciting new release is no different. Teaming up with Düsseldorf’s AFEW store, a famed sneaker retailer, and one of the most interesting storytellers in the game, the two are reuniting to share their love of physics through a new special-edition colorway of the famous Shadow 5000. This release focuses on physics, particularly the discoveries and research of one Albert Einstein, a German-born theoretical physicist. Titled “Time & Space”, this Shadow 5000 dark teal suede toe boxes and sock liners, grey canvas quarter panels, and black leather overlays, while each shoe carries its own accent color to represent the dual dynamic of the name. The right shoe features a heel counter, laces, and tongue lining in tan to represent “Time”, while the left shoe features the same accents in white to represent “Space”. Finally, real handwritten physics equations are scrawled across the silhouette’s white midsole.
