adidas’ Y-3 division, lead by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, continues to iterate on the brand’s wild 4D cushioning system, trying new materials and configurations with each version. This week, we have a look at the new Y-3 Runner 4D Halo, coming soon.
The partnership between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, known as Y-3, continues into 2022, marking a full twenty years of collaboration between the German sportswear brand and Japanese fashion designer. In that time, Y-3 has delivered some of the most exciting and innovative sneakers and apparel the Three Stripes have produced, so we are expecting nothing short of a high-profile anniversary celebration. The party appears to be starting early in the year, with the unveiling and impending release of the new Y-3 Runner 4D Halo this week. The new design builds upon its predecessors, featuring a mix of technical materials throughout the upper. The black portion is constructed from a large-gauge mesh, meaning lots of breathability. The mesh is reinforced in certain areas with a taped overlay, while the heel and midfoot are supported by a cream white taping layer. Thin white strands form the lace loops and hang loosely from the sides of the shoe, while a cream white 4D midsole completes the look.
