adidas’ Y-3 division, lead by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, continues to iterate on the brand’s wild 4D cushioning system, trying new materials and configurations with each version. This week, we have a look at the new Y-3 Runner 4D Halo, coming soon.

The partnership between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, known as Y-3, continues into 2022, marking a full twenty years of collaboration between the German sportswear brand and Japanese fashion designer. In that time, Y-3 has delivered some of the most exciting and innovative sneakers and apparel the Three Stripes have produced, so we are expecting nothing short of a high-profile anniversary celebration. The party appears to be starting early in the year, with the unveiling and impending release of the new Y-3 Runner 4D Halo this week. The new design builds upon its predecessors, featuring a mix of technical materials throughout the upper. The black portion is constructed from a large-gauge mesh, meaning lots of breathability. The mesh is reinforced in certain areas with a taped overlay, while the heel and midfoot are supported by a cream white taping layer. Thin white strands form the lace loops and hang loosely from the sides of the shoe, while a cream white 4D midsole completes the look.

Yohji Yamamoto’s latest release with adidas, the adidas Y-3 4D Halo, has been said to release next week, on January 15th, 2022, though we are still awaiting confirmation from one of the Three Stripes official channels. Similar to past versions of the Y-3 4D Runner, this pair will likely come with a hefty price tag of $400 or more, releasing from select adidas Y-3 accounts like SNS.
