adidas’ recently revived FYW-97 continues to roll out in new colorway, as the brand continues to celebrate the Torsion Bar embedded in the midsole. However, this month also features a stealthy new black colorway of Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 interpretation.
Yohji Yamamoto’s version of the adidas FYW-97 retains all the important styles we love from the standard edition while adding plenty of improvements all around. First, the Y-3 helmed silhouette begins with a single-piece Primeknit upper, layered to provide extra support in key area. The toe box features a rounded cage to assist in both lacing and forefoot reinforcement, while new EVA-protected Boost tooling provides all the cushioning you’ll need for all-day comfort. The latest colorway hides some of the details of the original through an all-black color scheme, from the Primeknit upper to the Boost midsole. However, the S-97’s unique outsole shape is formed from stiff EVA to reinforce the underside of the shoe.

The latest colorway of the adidas Y-3 version of the FYW S-97 released earlier this week from select Yohji retailers, like Warsaw Sneaker Store. Pairs of the elevated take on the vintage adidas runner are still available, going for roughly $390.
