Foam footwear is everywhere right now, and they just keep getting better. This month, Samuel Ross’ A-COLD-WALL is getting ready to help launch the Converse Sponge Crater, a wild hybrid of knit and rubber.

The partnership between Samuel Ross’ A-COLD-WALL and Converse has been heating up. Most recently, the two teamed up to debut the Aeon Active CX, a wild new silhouette for the classic basketball brand. Now, they have another radical new style on the horizon, trying something entirely new for the Converse arsenal. Dubbed the Sponge Crater, the hybrid sneaker-slipper combines some of the best technology at their disposal, creating an interesting knit and foam mash-up. The new model consists of two parts, a knit inner bootie combined with a full foam rubber slipper on the exterior. The outer portion features large gaps on either side for air flow, and is constructed from the Crater Foam material created by Nike, which appears increasingly in their midsoles and outsoles. The initial release comes in a stone grey color for the rubber, with a vibrant orange knit material with matching grey accents.
