adidas Introduces New Vulcanized Soles for the Continental 80s

adidas’ Continental 80s has gained a lot of popularity since it first returned last Summer. Now, the vintage tennis shoe is making some subtle changes to create an entirely new look and feel. Check out the Continental 80s Vulc, coming soon.

adidas Continental 80 returns this week, with a slight modification to its construction for a sleek new look. Born back in the 1980s, the Continental was built for tennis courts, even considered a spiritual follow up to the timeless Stan Smith that was oh-so-popular at the time. However, the silhouette found its legs as a training silhouette, offering the support and flexibility wanted by athletes at the time. Now, the Continental 80 is undergoing another change, this time cosmetic, to adapt to yet another use. This week, adidas previewed the classic silhouette with a new vulcanized rubber sole. While this seems like a minute difference, the vulcanized pieces are best used for skateboarding, thanks to their strong flexibility and penchant for sticking to grip tape.
