Willy Chavarria’s eponymous brand has grown tremendously in the last few years, after the designers departure from Calvin Klein. This week, they are releasing their latest work with adidas, which includes two pairs of the Jabbar Low in a new Dress format.
Willy Chavarria is a designer born and raised in Southern California, whose eponymous label has been making waves in the fashion and streetwear scenes in recent years. Chavarria is not new to the world of apparel, having worked for Ralph Lauren and as a VP of design at Calvin Klein. Along the way he also founded his own label, and is the creative director behind Palmer Trading Company, a New York-based menswear label sold exclusively in Japan.
In recent years, Chavarria has been working with adidas to transform his vision into footwear, as well as releasing apparel collections with Three Stripes branding. Their next release is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, and delivers both a range of athletic apparel as well as two styles of the Jabbar Low, the 1978 basketball shoe getting a retro release this year. Chavarria’s version transforms the shoe into a Dress version, using high quality leather and a slightly revised look to achieve an upscale version. Pairs will be available in all black or white with cream accents.
