The change of a new year usually means new releases in the sneaker world, and this year’s Lunar New Year celebrations are off to an early start. This week, Vans has unveiled their “Year of the Ox” collection, partnering with Chinese designer Suwukou for the project.

This year’s Lunar New Year collection from California sneaker brand Vans celebrates the “Year of the Ox” through a number of colorful interpretations of the Old Kool and Sk8-Hi, teaming up with Chinese designer Suwukou to lend their eye to the collaboration. The project aims to celebrate the occasion by tapping various local Chinese creatives to deliver their take on the various sneaker canvasses. The standout shoe from the collection appears to be a monochromatic offering of the Old Skool, dressed in teal green suede with darker hunter green Jazz stripes and midsoles to boot as well as an all-pink iteration, while the classic Era arrives in a muted grey palette. The Old Skool also makes an appearance in the collection, featured in a white/pink/black color palette, or a simple tonal green suede iteration. Each pair in the collection features “THEY ARE” branding embroidered across the heels.
