The Vans Half Cab is turning thirty years old in 2022. Celebrating accordingly, Vans is kicking things off with a new limited-edition release, making some small updates to the original to create the new Vans Skate Half Cab ’92, available now.

Vans first introduced their now-legendary Half Cab in 1992, then released as the second signature model from pro skater Steve Caballero. The first silhouette, now known as the Full Cab, was being modified by the skaters of the time, cutting off the upper portions of the ankle to provide more flexibility to perform difficult flip tricks. Caballero took notice, and implored Vans to go back to work on his signature style, rehashing it in a way that better fit skater’s needs. To this day, the refined Half Cab remains one of the most important shoes in the Vans Skate lineup, which leads us to the new ’92 Anniversary editions that launched this week. The update makes a few minor changes to the design, separating the toe cap and ollie patch layers to modernize the look. The Half Cab ’92 is available in two colorways at launch “Dress Blues” and “Taupe”, both of which feature a black tongue and inner lining.
