Asics special collaborations have been all over the map this year, from projects with Chemist Creations to celebrating a local Malaysian holiday. This month, the Japanese brand is ready to debut a new Gel Lyte V in partnership with Transformers.
Asics’ Gel Lyte V is still on top of the game. The retro running silhouette first burst onto the scene in 1993, as the next installment in the brand’s then-up-and-coming Gel franchise. Utilizing a single-piece upper and the patented Gel underfoot, the V quickly rose through the ranks of premier running shoes, before eventually ascending to the rank of lifestyle legend that it is today. Now, the Gel Lyte V is mostly used for special collaborations and projects, like this month’s co-branded release from Asics and Hasbro’s Transformers. The shoe gives the wearer a choice of which faction from the Transformers’ world they want to support, thanks to interchangeable overlays featuring both Decepticon and Autobot branding.

The latest release from Asics and Hasbro’s Transformers is slated to hit shelves next week on November 22nd, 2019. Despite the addition of interchangeable branded pieces to this release, the limited-edition release will retail for a cool $130, a surprisingly low price point for a highly customizeable shoe.
