New Balance’s All-Terrain sneakers have found new love from fans in recent months, as the Boston-based brand has rolled out some exciting new silhouettes. This week, Japan’s The Apartment boutique takes on the 801 AT, taking color inspiration from toucans.

New Balance’s standard lineup of color schemes for their sneakers are not exactly what you might call eye-catching. In fact, the most standard iterations, often in grey, navy blue, and black, are referred to as ‘dad’ shoes for their simplicity. Luckily, New Balance has a massive array of exciting collaborative partners to deliver some lively takes on their favorite silhouettes to help round out each season. This week, that honor goes to Japan’s The Apartment boutique, based in Tokyo. Their latest project focuses on the all-terrain 801 silhouette, and gives it a colorful makeover inspired by the bright tones of a toucan’s feathers. The look begins with a bright yellow base for the upper, reinforced by sleek black overlays running around the outside of the shoe. Next, shiny blue ‘N’ logos are added to each side, while a blue tongue and red laces complete the look. Gore-Tex construction makes these perfect for the outdoors, while a branded carabiner comes with each pair to help you accessorize on or off the trails.
