Stussy and Nike have partnered numerous times over the years, to much applause from the sneaker community with every release. This year, the two are teaming up once more to release a small range of footwear, including the Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2.
Nike’s process of how they revive and retro vintage sneakers is slowly becoming more transparent, as the brand is teaming up with Stussy this year for a special release of the Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2, amongst other things. If you have been following these patterns, they start with the rumors of a potential collaboration months in advance, in this case back in November of 2019. Now, as initial images of the collection begin to make their way online, so do the rumors that said vintage silhouette will also be returning in its original form. Sometimes the retro release is popular and sticks around for a while, in other cases, not so long. However, this year Stussy is working on the Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 from the early 2000s, a cult classic amongst fans of Nike Runners. Previewed here by A$AP Nast in the cream/black colorway, the Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 is only a small part of the latest project from Stussy and Nike, which also includes another variation of the Spiridon as well as the Benassi slide.
STUSSY X NIKE AIR ZOOM SPIRIDON CAGED 2 RELEASE INFORMATION
The next project from Nike and Southern California’s Stussy has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime in the Spring of this year. With A$AP Nast’s unveiling of the Zoom Spiridon Caged, that leaves just Stussy’s versions of the Zoom Spiridon KK and the Benassi slide that remain to be seen.
