Julian Consuegra’s Stray Rats has been working with New Balance for roughly a year now, releasing highly unique colorways of some of the Boston brand’s classic silhouettes. This week, the brand’s founder debuted his latest, a brown interpretation of the new 827.
The collaboration between Miami’s Stray Rats streetwear brand and New Balance, Boston’s premier footwear manufacturer, kicked off for the first time last year, when the two teamed up for multiple iterations of the “Joker” color scheme on the fan-favorite 990v3 silhouette. Now, it appears the two are switching gears and changing lanes, working with the 827 for 2020. Teased by Stray Rats founder Julian Consuegra via his Instagram page, the new look applies an eye-catching brown tone to the entirety of the silhouette, from mesh base layer to pigskin suede overlays. The tone only changes slightly from material to material, but there are plenty of colorful accents around the shoe to make up for the almost tonal look, mainly featuring green nylon webbing, red laces, and a purple New Balance ‘N’ on either side of the shoe. The heels also feature Stray Rats branding, printed on camo webbing that reaches across either heel.
STRAY RATS X NEW BALANCE 827 RELEASE INFORMATION
The latest release from Stray Rats and New Balance, this time focusing on the 827, has not yet been announced for release, though Stray Rats founder Julian Consuegra’s teaser did point to a May release. Given their collaborations in the past, this 827 is likely to release is pretty limited numbers, exclusively to both partners’ websites, as well as with an elevated price tag from the usual $145.
