The upcoming project between Star Wars and adidas is really starting to heat up, thanks to the seemingly endless stream of footwear coming our way. Today, we have our first look at the next Jedi release, the NMD_R1 “Rey”, coming in December.
The Star Wars x adidas project was already massive as of this week, consisting of 10 silhouettes across the basketball collection alone, with a handful more for the “Jedi”-themed lifestyle portion. The latest addition to the more casual collection of footwear surfaced on adidas’ website earlier this morning, showcasing the NMD_R1 in a new color scheme for the current trilogies’ main protagonist, Rey. The look appears to take color inspiration from her home planet of Jakku, covering the upper in a sand-like tone, accented by deeper brown hits on the heel counter and rear EVA pods. The tongue label features a photo of Rey carrying her blue lightsaber, which also makes an appearance as a thing blue line running down the center of the shoe. Finally, the look is completed by a blue heel section of the Boost midsole, emblazoned with the movie quote “Light, darkness. A balance.”

adidas’ latest addition to their upcoming Star Wars collection, the “Rey” NMD_R1, has been scheduled to release alongside the rest of the collection on December 17th, 2019. The date is meant to coincide with the release of The Rise of Skywalker, giving fans a chance to rock their favorite character’s shoes to the premiere. Pairs will be available directly from adidas, likely with an elevated retail price of $140+ thanks to nature of the project.
