New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio and Snow Peak are back with some incredible new work this month. Building on their last project, the new TBS Niobium Concept 1 combines three shoes in one for a completely customizable experience.
Snow Peak and New Balance have a shared penchant for crafting some extremely cool technical goods. The last time we saw the two team up, the two created the Extreme Spec R_C4, a high-top hiking-minded silhouette based on several of NB’s popular lifestyle models. This time around, the two are taking things a step further, straying from New Balance’s current arsenal in favor of an entirely new look: the TBS Niobium Concept 1. To be clear, the Niobium is actually three shoes in one, transforming from a mule silhouette to a trail runner or hiking boot with the addition of swappable inner booties for a customizable fit.

The brand new project from Snow Peak and New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio, the TBS Niobium Concept, has been scheduled to release next week, on August 29th, 2020. The 3-in-1 footwear will launch exclusively via a select list of Japanese retailers, with a price tag of 35,000 Yen, or approximately $330.
