SFTM & adidas’ Summer 2026 Collection Releases in May

Australian label Song for the Mute’s work with adidas has become one of our most anticipated seasonal releases. This week, their Summer 2026 lineup has surfaced, bringing five more unique takes on adi sneakers in May.

Song for the Mute is an Australian-founded brand, started by Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty in 2010. The name is a nod to their intention to give a voice to the voiceless, and their main goal is to create clothing that tells stories of their personal experiences and interactions with people, materials, and sounds. Each season is purposefully crafted to look distinctly different from the last, from colors to textiles and more. Starting in 2022, SFTM has been working with adidas on regular collections, joining their unique lens with the Three Stripes decades of footwear.

This week, the latest collection from SFTM and adidas has surfaced, their Summer 2026 offerings. While we are still excitedly awaiting the release of their SL72 Pro teased back in January, this drop will tide us over with some excellent styles. The main attraction for this collection (to me) is the Freizeit. Roughly translating to “leisure time” from German, the Freizeit isn’t actually a silhouette, but a name of a subline from adi denoting the use of a specific sole unit. The upper for this model seems to borrow from a variety of Three Stripes classic, fusing luxurious leather and suede with contrast stitching.

The other three sneaker styles in the latest SFTM drop are all variations on the Tokyo runner, a track shoe originally released in 1964 for the Tokyo Olympic Games, but was revived as a lifestyle model last year. SFTM’s take starts with a neutral off-white style, adding golden stripes and black Xs across the heels. The second pair is much brighter, using the signature Bluebird tone that most adidas shoe boxes are colored in. Finally, the third pair makes a material change to a breathable mesh upper in black with white and gold accents.

The latest collection from Australia’s Song for the Mute and adidas is scheduled to release next month, on May 15th, 2026. This Summer 2026 collection includes a total of five sneaker options; two pairs of the Friezeit in dress shoe stylings, and three colors of the Tokyo with some varying material options. Pairs will be available from both partners as well as select retailers. Pricing for the collection is currently unknown.
