Asics has been on top of their game recently when it comes to collaborations, and there is no end in sight. This week, the Japanese brand showed off an exciting new project with London’s ROKH – taking inspiration from rock climbing for the GEL 1080 and Kinsei.

Asics’ recent experimentation and revival of their favorite GEL technology-equipped shoes has done them well recently, helping to usher in a wave of new collaborations that grow more popular by the day. This week, Japanese running brand is teaming up with London’s ROKH for a new collection highlighting two recent GEL revivals, the GEL Kinsei and the GEL 1080. Founded by Rok Hwang, a former protegé of fashion legend Phoebe Philo who left Céline in 2016 to found his own luxury womenswear label. Taking inspiration from rock climbing for the Asics project, the GEL 1080 and GEL Kinsei appear in their standard construction, with the addition of climbing paracord looping in and out of the shoe in a nearly nonsensical manner. Each shoe comes in a relatively simple color scheme, using the paracord to form colorful contrast on each one.

The footwear capsule from Rok Hwang’s ROKH and Asics launched earlier this week, exclusively through Dover Street Market’s London store. Select sizes are still available for each colorway, with prices listed at roughly $240 for the GEL 1080 and $325 for the GEL Kinsei, with no wider release planned at this time.
