Vans continues their string of high-profile collaboratos this month, teaming up with Rhuigi Villaseñor’s Rhude to celebrate a piece of Southern California’s history through the state’s unique license plates.

Rhuigi Villaseñor has been on a roll this year. Still feeling the heat of popular releases with both Nike and PUMA, the Rhude founder is adding another major footwear brand to his repotoire this month through a new collaboration with California’s Vans. Centerting around the vintage Bold NI silhouette, the new project from Rhude and Vans pays homage to Southern California history through some of the state’s famous license plates. Arriving in three colorways, the silhouette takes on a smooth suede upper eith enlarged signature Jazz stripes and hefty midsoles. First up, the Bold NI will release in both black and blue uppers, with matching colored license plates that were introduced in the 1960s printed around the foxing of each. Next, the red pair arrives in third, featuring the famous California sunset license plate that was introduced a few years later in the 1970s.

The Rhude x Vans Bold NI collection will be released in two parts, mimicing the release dates of the license plates used for inspiration. First up, the black and blue suede pairs with matching plates will launch on October 26th, 2019, while the red pair will complete the project on Novemebr 26th, 2019. So far, retail prices for the collection have not been announced, but we expect them to be somewhere around $100, and release exclusively from Rhude and Vans.
