New Balance ad Red Wing shoes both boast well-respected histories in footwear, but a collaboration between the two is one of the last things we expected to see this year. Nevertheless, it’s here, the Red Wing x New Balance 997.

The melding of worlds between sneakers and leather boots is a rare occurrence, with many releases falling under that category flying far below the radar of most sneaker outlets. However, the latest of these special releases is something different, as it includes two of the oldest and most well-known footwear brands in the United States: New Balance and Red Wing. While we are very familiar with New Balance here at JFK, Red Wing’s signature products are slightly outside our usual comfort zone, thanks to their high-top leather construction and classic hard soles. However, this project with New Balance is something new for the Minnesota-based brand, which takes the classic 997 silhouette and reconstructs it with Red Wing’s luxurious leathers and signature color scheme.

The upcoming project between Minnesota’s Red Wing Shoes and New Balance, which rebuilds the classic 997 with an all-leather upper, has been scheduled to release later this week on September 6th, 2019. The special edition release carries a retail price of approximately $315 and will release from retailers like SneakersNStuff.
