New Balance’s streak of collaborations featuring the 2002R continues this month, with another team-up between brands. This time around, RandomEvent and UNIK deliver two glow-in-the-dark colorways of the retro runner.

Earlier this year, New Balance announced a string of collaborations to help relaunch one of their classic runners, the 2002R that first debuted nearly two decades ago. The special-edition releases aim to help the Boston brand highlight the retro model in a number of different detailed color schemes before the 2002 made a full return to shelves. The project kicked off with Salehe Bembury’s Grand Canyon-inspired pair earlier this season before Invincible and N. HOOLYWOOD took a turn, as well as COSTS and FDMTL Denim. This week, the fourth project has been unveiled, which sees two colorways coming from the creative minds at RandomEvent and UNIK. Both pairs feature glow in the dark construction, with the various glowing pieces altered between the black- and white-based colorways. The white pair feature an all-over glow build, covering the entirety of the leather upper in a light-reflective coating, while the black pair is much more minimal, offering a mostly black upper with glowing mid-layers tucked in throughout. Both pairs also feature a sleek, futuristic new 2002R branding, which also appears on the shoe box.
