New Balance’s 327 is on fire this year. Only recently becoming widely available, the sleek runner surfaced today in another exciting new collaboration, this time with Public School New York, who gave the shoe a clean navy blue and green makeover.
New Balance’s still-fresh 327 silhouette has been making the rounds between standard-issue and special-edition releases this year, as the new model continues to gain popularity. This week, the latest collaboration has surfaced, showing off a project with New York’s Public School NY featuring the message “We Need Leaders” displayed boldly throughout. While the details around this release are still hazy, we can assume the intention of this project is to encourage people to setup up and take charge in the ongoing battle for social justice reform, further evidenced by the phrase “All roads lead back to the streets” on the medial sides. As for the colorway, this 327 begins with a navy blue nylon base layer, adding more navy tones in the form of suede overlays to the lacing system and mudguard. The heel sections come in a soft cream white suede, while neon green is added to the rubber outsole and oversized ‘N’ logos to complete the look.

The upcoming collaboration between Public School NY and New Balance, the “We Need Leaders” 327, has not yet been announced for release though they are expected to drop before the year is out. This premium take on the new runner will likely come with an elevated price tag, and launch from both PSNY and New Balance. UPDATE 3/17/21: Public School NY has finally announced the highly-anticipated release of its upcoming New Balance 327, which will debut first via the Greenhouse app on March 19th, 2021. The shoe will release again the following week on March 23rd, via Footlocker and other select retailers for $100 a pair.
