London skate brand Palace is collaborating with New Balance for the first time, teaming up for a pair of colorways of the MT580 silhouette. No release info yet, but we expect them to drop before the year is through.

Palace Skateboards and New Balance are teaming up for their debut collaboration this year, marking the first release from the two brands separated by the Atlantic ocean. While the brand has been laser focused on releases from their 990 family, specifically the Made in USA/UK lines, Palace has chosen a less conventional, but equally important silhouette to work with, 1996’s MT580. Originally conceived as an adaptation of the US-made 585 for the Japanese market, the 580 brought a chunkier look to the then-popular slim running shoes, and quickly became a fan-favorite overseas. For their first team-up, New Balance and Palace have crafted two colorful looks for the shoes, one in grey base layers with bold aqua blue accents, and the second in white with purple, yellow, and teal suede layers added. Large Palace branding wraps around the heels, while zippered tongues provide a stash pocket for extra laces and, uh, other stuff.

The debut collaboration from the UK’s Palace and New Balance has not been announced for release, though we are expecting them to drop sometime in 2022. Featuring two colorways of the MT580, pairs will likely be available from both the Palace and NB websites, likely with a price tag in the $150 range.
