adidas’ ClimaCool Laced Edition Releases in July 2025

0

Last year, adidas debuted the next evolution of their 4D engineering, a new, fully-printed CimaCool silhouette. This week, ahead of the slip-ons rerelease, a new Laced version of the sihouette has begun to release overseas.

adidas has been working hard on their 4D line of sneakers for almost a decade now, advancing the technology behind the 3D printing technique to make it more applicable to footwear. Compared to other 3D-printed footwear, adidas’ version uses SLA printing, a process that essentially “pulls” the shoe out of a vat of resin, using light waves to harden the material into a desired shape. In 2024, they had a stroke of genius, using the latticed material to make their next evolution of ClimaCool shoes, a line designed to provide as much airflow as possible around your feet.

After its initial wave of releases late in 2024, the new ClimaCool model is returning next month for (hopefully) a wider release. Ahead of that drop, an updated version of the shoe has begun to appear at retailers overseas. This new Laced version does exactly what the name implies; adds a lacing system to the previously slip-on silhouette. The shoe’s lattice like structure has been altered a bit, likely to maintain structural integrity without a built-in top half, and adds a padded tongue in black with laces to match.

Above the Clouds’ Asics GEL-Quantum 360 Pack Releases in July

Asics has tapped Above the Clouds, one of their premier Australian partners, for another release, this time featuring the GEL-Quantum 360 runner in two bold colorways for a Summer drop, coming soon.

Over the last few years, Asics has amassed an impressive stable of collaborators through smaller brands or retailers. Their focus has largely been centered on Australian companies, who have routinely put out some of the best collaborative projects on the market for several years running. One of these partners is Above the Clouds, a retail store that provides their country with a wide assortment of fashion, streetwear, and most important to us, sneakers. Their run of releases with the Asics GT-2160 in 2023 & 2024 was a hit, and now, they’ve announced their follow-up project.

Shared via the Instagram-based archive of footwear Hartcopy, Above the Clouds is readying to release their take on Asics’ GEL-Quantum 360. The 360 model has been on shelves for a few years now, but the Japanese brand has just introduced a reworked version of the shoe with a revised upper, featuring mesh and a ventilated outer shell. AtC’s pairs use this style, applying two color schemes to the sneaker. the first features a muted green shade for the main body, framed in black and grey for a dark look. the second features a light brown or bronze hue, and uses dark, rich red tones to fill out the rest of the shoe.

BEAMS Adds Their Branding to Classic Black & White adidas Superstar IIs

BEAMS and adidas are back with a fresh release, offering up the iconic and original styles of the Superstar II. The catch is that the Japanese label has added their branding to the shelltoe, molding it into the molded rubber toe cap.

BEAMS was founded all the way back in 1976, operating as a purveyor of American goods by importing our fashion and lifestyle objects to Japan. The obsession with Americana has been rampant in Japan since that era, and BEAMS stood at the forefront of swapping cultural artifacts between our two nations. The label has expanded over the decades, and now includes its own fashion line rooted in classic American garments, as well as a wide range of collaborations with global brands.

This week, BEAMS is releasing their latest work with adidas, featuring the Superstar II, a model very slightly different from the original iteration. However, BEAMS is having some fun with the iconic shelltoe, adding their branding to the molded toe cap of the sneaker. Two colorways of the shoe will be available, and they are true to the Superstar’s OG styles. One pair comes in white leather with black stripes, and the black pair is the polar opposite, using white stripes. Both styles feature gold foil Superstar branding.

Nike is gearing up for the introduction of a brand new model to their catalog, the Ava Rover. The new silhouette first appeared last month, through a collaboration with Korean fashion label Hyein Seo, which debuted overseas last week and will make its way to US retailers soon. Shortly afterward, three of Nike’s initial in-house styles emerged, with more following suit in recent weeks, like a “Wolf Grey” edition reportedly releasing in July. Little is known about the Ava Rover, save for a small blurb on the Hyein Seo pair’s SNKRS launch page. We do know that the model is a lifestyle shoe built for casual everyday wear, and takes advantage of performance tech, like a ReactX midsole, to provide maximum comfort while out and about. The wavy lower half of the upper is made from hundreds of small raised, rubberized micro dots, which provide stability while also using their spacing to enhance flexibility. The latest colorway of the Rover pairs a Fossil off-white upper with a Cosmic Clay orange shade for the shoe’s lower half.
