Jordan Teases the Return of the Trunner at All-Star Weekend

0

All-Star Weekend is in full swing in the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend, and sneaker brands are showcasing all kinds of upcoming releases. During an event yesterday, Jordan Brand showed off some new styles of their Trunner model, coming soon.

The NBA All-Star Weekend is always a big sneaker event in addition to basektball. Sneaker brands take the mid-season break to showcase some new and upcoming releases, as well as bless the host city with limited and early releases. Sneakerheads in the Bay got a chance to get their hands on the upcoming Union Jordan 1 several weeks early yesterday, and while that was happening, Jordan Brand was hosting a private event showing off some upcoming releases.

One of the releases shown off by Jordan this week is an unexpected retro; the return of the Trunner silhouette. Shared by Complex’s Brendan Dunne, the hybrid runner and trainer is back for a fresh run of colors later this year. Two styles were shown at the event, one in a hot pink shade and the second in dark green. Both pairs feature black accents to break up the blocking, with a hint of metallic silver around each heel.

The Air Jordan 10 Retro “Steel” Releases Today

The Air Jordan 10 “Steel Grey” is set to make a grand return in Summer 2025. This iconic sneaker, originally released in 1994, is celebrated for its clean design and unique features. As Jordan Brand prepares to mark the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 10, fans of this classic silhouette have much to look forward to.

The 2025 release of the Air Jordan 10 “Steel Grey” promises to stay true to its roots. The sneaker will feature a white leather upper accented by black and grey hues on the eyelets, tongue, and sock liner. One of the intriguing aspects of this release is the potential inclusion of the infamous toe cap, a design element that appeared on early samples but was removed before final production.

The Air Jordan 10 debuted during Michael Jordan’s brief retirement from basketball, a time when he was playing professional baseball. Despite this, the sneaker has remained a beloved piece of sneaker history. The 2025 release aims to capture the essence of the original, appealing to both nostalgic fans and new sneaker enthusiasts.

In other news, a Nike SB x Air Max 95 will be released soon.

LeBron James Shares a Full Look at the Nike LeBron 23 Weartest Sample

Nike LeBron 23 on foot

LeBron James will kick off his twenty-third NBA season this Fall. Thanks to his lifetime deal with Nike, this means we will also see the debut of the LeBron 23 around the same time. This week, Bron shared a close-up look at his weartest sample for the first time.

The NBA season is almost here, and with it will come a new range of athlete signature sneakers. This week, we’ve seen a lot of new images of LeBron James getting workouts in, and still appearing to be in his prime. This year will mark Bron’s 23rd season in the NBA, breaking his tie with Vince Carter for the longest career in professional basketball. Since he joined the league at 18 years old, LeBron has had a new signature Nike shoe for each season, a trend that is not slowing down.

During his workouts this week, LeBron has been wearing a mysterious jet black pair of sneaker, presumed to be the LeBron 23. Today, he finally shared an up-close look at the new performance model, and they look great. While we don’t know anything about the tech packed inside yet, the close-up photo gives us a better idea of what to expect when they hit shelves (presumably) later this year. The upper appears similar to the thin nylon material recently seen on the Nike Ava Rover (check out our review for more). The midsole on this new pair is chunky, and incorporates Lebron’s crown logo in a clever design choice. This area appears to have some sort of carbon-fiber like print across it.

NIKE LEBRON 23 RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike has not yet announced any release plans for their new LeBron 23 model. However, we are speculating that the shoe may reach the public around the Holiday 2025 season, if past debuts are any indication. Seen here in a triple black weartest sample, there are no colorways currently expected to be the shoe’s launch edition. Stay tuned for further updates including pricing and availability.

New Balance Channels the Aurora Borealis for a 509 Pack

New Balance has already started the process of reviving their 2010s 509 running shoe this year. After teasing several collaborations in January, this week we have an official look at a new “Aurora Borealis” pack, coming soon.

New Balance’s 509 silhouette first arrived in the early 2010s, engineered as a high-tech running shoe for its time. Since then, the model’s sleek but plain aesthetics have firmly planted in the ‘dad shoe’ world. The model had its first modern release late last year in collaboration with Korean designer Do Hee Kim, who will issue two more styles this year. Additionally, CdG Homme teased their version of the tech runner during a runway show back in January.

This week, we have an early look at a new special-edition release of the 509 for New Balance’s in-line collection. Dressed in two colorways, each pair is seemingly inspired by the Aurora Borealis, using a color-shifting, metallic finish to achieve the same effect. Both pairs feature a jet black mesh base layer and midsole, mimicking the inky darkness of the night sky. One pair adds a mix of purple and blue tones to the shoes’ overlays, while the second fuses lime green and blue into its swooping layers.

NEW BALANCE 509 “AURORA BOREALIS” PACK RELEASE INFORMATION

New Balance has not yet given us an official date for their next release of the 509 retro. However, the “Aurora Borealis” pack is expected to arrive sometime in 2025. With options in purple/blue and green/blue, pairs will likely be available from both New Balance’s official channels and select retailers. No pricing information is available yet.

First Look at the Bad Bunny x adidas AdiRacer GT “Sand”

Bad Bunny and adidas are having a hell of a Summer. This week, the Puerto Rican artist showed off yet another new Three Stripes project, the new AdiRacer GT, coming soon in the “Sand” color scheme.

adidas has gone all in on their Bad Bunny partnership over the last few years. The bets have paid off so far, with the two regularly releasing new projects that sell out in moments. Their recent releases of the Gazelle Indoor experimented with regional-exclusive releases, and Benito was recently spotted in his own signature pair of slides. This week, BB announced a new partnership with Mercedes-AMG Petronas through adidas, bringing Formula 1 to Puerto Rico for the first time ever.

The three-way collaboration from AMG, Bad Bunny, and adidas was announced today via a short series of editorial videos. With an event scheduled tomorrow that includes the first time a F1 car has driven on Puerto Rican soil, photos also showed Benito sporting a new adidas sneaker, the AdiRacer GT. Inspired by vintage driving shoes, the Bad Bunny edition is seen here in a “Sand” color scheme, featuring grey suede accents and bright crimson Three Stripes. Mercedes AMG also recently became an adidas partner, and the three are expected to unveil their full project tomorrow.

BAD BUNNY X ADIDAS ADIRACER GT “SAND” RELEASE INFORMATION

Bad Bunny and adidas have not yet formally announced their next sneaker collaboration. However, Benito’s take on the AdiRacer GT silhouette is currently expected to debut on October 15th, 2025. Seen here in a smooth “Sand” color scheme, expect pairs to release from both adidas and select retailers for $160.

AsphaltGold & Salomon Celebrate Avid Travelers with a “Transit” XT-4

0

Salomon has some exciting projects in the works for the next few months. This week, German retailer AsphaltGold unveiled their release, a silver “Transit” edition of the XT-4 designed for avid travelers.

Salomon’s trail running sneakers have evolved dramatically over the last decade. Originally designed for rugged, outdoor adventures, their sturdy silhouettes have been repurposed by sneakerheads into everyday styles, worn for traversing urban jungles instead. In that time, Salomon has also expanded their stable of collaborators, bringing in fresh ideas and takes on their iconic silhouettes.

The most popular Salomon styles donned by sneakerheads have been the XT-6 and XT-4 trail runners. This week, retailer AsphaltGold unveiled their version of the XT-4, a “Transit” style inspired by avid travelers. Their version of the all-terrain silhouette brings a metallic silver finish to the running model. Both the shoe’s mesh base and taped outer layers are given the shimmering finish, with a carbon fiber pattern applied to the overlays. White accents break up the color blocking a bit, while Arrival and Departure are printed on the tongue’s webbing strips.

ASPHALTGOLD X SALOMON XT-4 “TRANSIT” RELEASE INFORMATION

The release of AsphaltGold’s new Salomon collaboration is set for July 26th, 2025. This will be an in-store drop at AG’s Germany locations, followed by an online drop on August 2nd, 2025. The silver “Transit” edition XT-4 will be exclusive to the retailer, with no wider release currently planned. No pricing information is available yet.

adidas Originals’ Adizero Goukana Releases Globally This Week

0

adidas’ Originals team has unveiled a brand new silhouette this week, the Adizero Goukana. Taking inspiration from the Three Stripes’ history of performance running shoes, the chunky new model debuts in a bright yellow style this Summer.

adidas has been laser focused on ramping up their Adizero line over the last few years. The project first debuted in 2008, after several years of research to create the lightest, fastest shoes possible. The original Adizero model, now known as the flagship Adios, was worn by Haile Gebrselassie during the Berlin marathon, where he set a record-smashing 2:03:59 time. Fast-forward to 2024, and that same shoe finally released to the public through the Wales Bonner Neftenga.

The upcoming Adizero Goukana from adidas Originals pays homage to that OG prototype, both in form and color. The new model features similar lines and midsole tooling as its predecessor, and sports the same bright yellow, silver, and black palette for its launch look. The Goukana is constructed from mesh and suede with some synthetic accents added, and features a chunky, smooth midsole that incorporates their excellent LightStrike cushioning foam. The yellow pair is expected to launch in June, followed by red and blue styles shortly afterward.

ADIDAS ADIZERO GOUKANA “YELLOW” RELEASE INFORMATION

adidas Originals has not yet officially announced the debut of their new Adizero Goukana silhouette, but the “Yellow” colorway will kick off the model’s release in June 2025. Pairs of the chunky new runner-inspired look will be available from both adidas and select retailers. No pricing information is available yet.

mita & Offspring Unite for an adidas Consortium ZX 8000 Release

adidas Consortium is back! After a quiet couple of years, the Three Stripes elite collaboration division has quietly teamed up with Japanese boutique mita Sneakers and London’s Offspring for a fresh take on the ZX 8000.

adidas’ Consortium division has been quiet this year. Reserved for an elite group of retail partners, the Consortium team produces some of the best collaborations under the Three Stripes banner, giving complete creative freedom to their partners. The division rose to prominence in 2016 when adidas used their stable of partners to help bolster the hype around the UltraBoost and NMD styles. Then in 2023, they held the Consortium Cup, a tournament style, user-voted process to determine a series of releases from each store.

This week, a new Consortium style has emerged, bringing together Japan’s mita Snekaers and London’s Offspring for a new release. The two have cooked up a special pair of the ZX 8000, the cult classic runner from the ’90s. Their take on the model gives the shoe a simple color scheme in a medium grey tone across its mesh and suede layers. The look is framed in black for the inner lining, laces, and midsole, while a metallic silver heel cage round out the look. The Consortium handshake logo is embroidered across the heels, while extra laces and co-branded dubraes nod to the ZX 8K’s iconic “Aqua” color scheme.

MITA X OFFSPRING X ADIDAS ZX 8000 RELEASE INFORMATION

The new three-way collaboration from mita Sneakers, Offspring, and adidas does not have a set date yet, but is expected in Fall 2025. Featuring the ZX 8000 as their canvas, the shoe gets a flat grey palette with black and metallic silver accents, along with extra lace and dubrae options in yellow and teal. Pairs are expected to release from all three parties for $150.

Bandai Namco x Air Jordan 1 “Shadow” Model Kit Pre-Orders Now Open

Bandai Namco is switching lanes for their latest model kits. They’ve teamed up with Nike and Jordan Brand to bring the Air Jordan 1 to (miniature) life. Featuring the “Shadow” and “Reverse Shadow” pairs, the kits are available for pre-order now.

The worlds of sneaker collectors and model collectors are colliding this week. Bandai Namco, the makers of a wide variety of collectibles and building kits, has teamed up with Nike to recreate an iconic sneaker, the Air Jordan 1, as a miniature model. Designed in the same style as their Gundam models, these sneakers come in flat molded parts, requiring the buyer to disassemble each sheet before building the shoes.

After announcing the project earlier this week, the first model kit is now available for pre-order. Featuring the iconic “Shadow” colorway for one half of the set, the other pair is the “Reverse Shadow” color scheme. The shoes themselves are releasing in the AJ1 ’85 version exclusively in Japan, so this may be the best shot we American have at owning a pair. Dimensions listed are 120mm x 40mm x 70mm, or roughly 4.7″ x 1.5″ x 3″ in imperial measurements.

BANDAI NAMCO X AIR JORDAN 1 “SHADOW” PACK RELEASE INFORMATION

Pre-orders for the Bandai Namco-made Air Jordan 1 model kit are now open. Featuring a two-pack of the Shadow and Reverse Shadow colorways for their debut release, the set comes with a price tag of $130, and will ship sometime in Decemeber 2025. If you are new to model kits, some tools may be required but these are snap-fit, meaning no glue necessary.

Release Date: July 31st, 2025 (Bandai – Ships December 2025)

Nike Ava Rover Review: ReactX Makes its Debut in a Lifestyle Sneaker

Nike Ava Rover Black/Muslin colorway on-foot

Nike recently debuted ReactX cushioning in a range of performance footwear. Now, the foam material makes its debut in the streets through the new Ava Rover sneaker. We got our hands on a pair to see how this new tech translates into everyday wear.

Nike has always put innovation at the forefront of their sneaker designs. New technologies are typically designed with running in mind first, and are then adapted to more intense sports like basketball, before finally making their way to lifestyle shoes. This month, their ReactX cushioning foam has finally trickled down into casual sneakers, hitting shelves in the form of the Ava Rover last week.

I have been wearing a pair of the Ava Rover for a little over a week now, testing how the new cushioning compares to some other Nike technologies. The shoe’s construction and materials are similar to the React Element line, especially given that ReactX is directly correlated to some of the issues with the foam’s initial iteration. Their iconic Lunar foam has also come to mind while wearing them. For the Nike Ava Rover Review, I will be weighing the new style against these two previous iterations, specifically the Element 87 and the more recent Lunar Roam. Both of these styles were built with the same purpose of everyday, urban wear, and I find they are quite similar in construction and aesthetics.

SIZING & FIT

Like many Nike shoes, the Ava Rover takes some inspiration from the brand’s long history of running shoes. The toes may be a bit narrow for some feet, similar to past releases like the Element 87. The Rover is similar, and Nike reps recommended going up a half size for the new model. Typically I wear a size 10, and went with a 10.5 for my black & muslin pair, and they were absolutely correct. The half size change is a perfect fit for my feet, leaving plenty of room around the toes while still being snug with very little room to slide back and forth as I move.

COMFORT

The transition from performance purposes to lifestyle wear can be a bit rocky for sneaker technologies. Luckily, Nike seems to have dialed in the design with the Ava Rover. The midsole is full-length ReactX foam, which is plush and easy to squish with your hands, yet provides plenty of density in a larger form like this. The sole is wider than the bottom of your foot, a lesson learned from the Element 87, providing enough stability when you make a misstep or turn a corner a little too hard. This is also enhanced by their flat-molded TPU elements that bridge the upper and sole, which add rigidity to the thin upper while maintaining flexibility.

The Ava Rover’s upper is another interesting development from Nike. The main panels are made from a thin, recycled nylon material that provides plenty of flexibility, and doesn’t seem to crease or show too many signs of wear. This is a massive improvement over the thick, plastic-y clear material used in their Element 87 releases. Inside, the shoe is lined with a thin and plush mesh material, acting as an extra layer of comfort and creating more airflow around your feet. The tongue is made from the same nylon fabric, but adds two cushioned pods at the top to protect the top of your feet. Combined with similar squishy padding in the heels, putting on the Ava Rover is like slipping into a dense sock.

The Rover is also an incredibly light sneaker. Using the thin, lightweight textles for the upper combined with a foam midsole, the shoe weighs in at just 316 grams. For comparison, I also weighed a pair of recent Air Max 95s and a standard leather Dunk Low. These came in at 513 and 394 grams, respectively.

PERFORMANCE

After wearing the Ava Rover consistently over the past week, I think it is one of the better original sneakers from Nike in the last decade. The shoe’s soft midsoles are both sturdy enough for all day wear, but forgiving enough to feel bouncy after a full day’s work. The ultra-thin outsole gives plenty of traction even on slick surfaces, and the construction of the upper felt like my feet were embraced in a gentle hug, despite wearing them for hours on end. Comfort is massively improved from the last React lifestyle shoe, the Element 87, and while I personally love the Lunar Roam, the shoe’s narrow toe box and running inspired forward lean take away from its overall comfort.

All in, the Ava Rover is an excellent addition to Nike’s 2025 slate. I’d like to see them incorporate some of the design elements of the shoe into more classic styles like adidas did with Boost, instead of relying entirely on all-new models to push their latest technologies.

NIKE AVA ROVER RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s latest lifestyle sneaker finally arrived last week. The brand debuted the Ava Rover in a wide range of styles, with at least five colorways available in adult sizing, with two more added in Big Kids’ sizing. Pairs are plentiful and available directly from the Swoosh’s website, all of which go for a very reasonable $145 price tag. Hit the links below to find your preferred color scheme.

The “Comet Red” Nike Air Max 95 Returns in 2026

The Air Max 95 has been the focus of Nike’s Air releases this year, celebrating thirty years of the iconic design. This week, news of the shoe’s OG “Comet Red” colorway has surfaced, with a fresh release rumored for 2026.

This year marked another milestone for an essential member of the Air Max family. The Air Max 95 turned thirty years old. Designed by Sergio Lozano and inspired by human anatomy, particularly the spinal column, the running shoe cemented its spot in sneaker history years ago. In honor of its anniversary, Nike gave the model the Big Bubble treatment, the same process the Air Max 1 went through to revive the designers’ original vision for the Air cushioning unit.

Since the Bib Bubble AM95 first released early this year, Nike has had non-stop new colorways for the fan-favorite model. While many are new takes on the classic, there are still some OG styles we have been waiting on. This week, the “Comet Red” pair can be removed from that list. Originally a 1995 release with retros in 2003 and 2010, the fresh palette is getting another release in 2026. Based around a white midsole and lower layers that fade to black at the top of the shoe, the bright red accents for the lacing system and Nike branding give this colorway its name.

NIKE AIR MAX 95 “COMET RED” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s release of their “Comet Red” Air Max 95 in the updated Big Bubble format is rumored to arrive sometime in 2026. Originally released in 1995 for the shoe’s original run, this will mark the third time this colorway has returned to shelves over the last thirty years. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $200.

First Look at Billie Eilish’s “Plaid” Air Jordan 4

Billie Eilish Air Jordan 4 Plaid first look

Billie Eilish’s unique sense of style is coming back to Jordan Brand soon. Her last project with the Nike family released in Fall 2024, but she’s been wearing a “Plaid” edition Air Jordan 4 on stage recently.

Superstar musician Billie Eilish has been rocking a new sneaker collaboration lately. Her first foray into footwear dropped back in 2021, when she was just twenty years old. Teaming up with Jordan Brand, she released signature pairs of the Air Jordan 1 KO and the Air Jordan 15. The latter was a shocking choice, and one of the few AJ15 releases we’ve seen in the past two decades. Since then, she’s released a handful of Nike Air Force 1s, Alpha Force 88s, and a Converse By You project.

Billie is currently on tour, meaning lots of new on-stage fits. Recently, she’s been seen wearing a new sneaker collaboration, returning to Jordan for the first time since 2021. This time around she is getting an iconic silhouette as the canvas: the Air Jordan 4. Billie’s pair appears to dress the model in a black suede build, adding a plaid print in shades of blue with a red accent. The plaid pattern covers the midsoles, plastic lacing loops, and the panels behind the shoe’s signature cages.

BILLIE EILISH X AIR JORDAN 4 RELEASE INFORMATION

There is currently no information regarding the release of Billie Eilish’s take on the Air Jordan 4. Dressed in back with blue and red plaid sections, we hope to see this pair available to the public sometime soon. The last Jordan release from Billie arrived in 2023, so we are a bit overdue for a fresh silhouette.
