The Pigeon Dunk is back. After several teasers from Jeff Staple himself, we now know that the Staple Design lead has gone back to work with Nike, preparing another Staple Pigeon Dunk Low to release sometime in the near future.

The first Staple x Nike SB Dunk Low “Pigeon” released back in 2005, and changed the course of the sneaker game forever. Dropped at the height of the Nike SB era, the Pigeon Dunk’s release in New York City caused massive trouble with law enforcement and ended with customers having to leave the store out of the back exit and immediately hop in a taxi. Fans of the Dunk were so anxious to get a pair, those who were lucky to score couldn’t walk into the crowd without being severely harassed for their new kicks. Now, over a decade and another Pigeon Dunk later, Jeff Staple is back for another round.

Next year’s Pigeon Dunk is a large departure from previous releases, opting for a wildly different color scheme than previous iterations. First, the latest version begins with a plain white leather base layer for the toe box, quarter panels, and heel. Next, the essential SB Dunk overlays come in black for a contrasting look, leaving the Swoosh in white. The Staple Pigeon is present on the outer side of the heel, as always. The inner lining of the new Dunk comes in green, with a bamboo print on the insoles. Finally, a fake “Sample” tag has been added to the inside and modified to simply say “Staple”.
