The Nike Field General trainer is back from 1982, getting a fresh retro release for 2024. The iconic field shoe, originally intended for football, is back with a wide range of new styles, with a special-edition “London” pair surfacing this week, coming this Fall.
Nike’s Field General is back this year, returning the 1982 turf trainer to the Swoosh’s catalog in its original format for the first time in nearly a decade. The model has served as inspiration from a number of silhouettes over the years, including Tom Sachs’ fan-favorite General Purpose Shoe. Even Los Angeles’ Union is preparing their take on the iconic model, refreshing the model with an entirely new look in two colors. Before they land, a new special-edition pair has emerged this week, giving the shoe a city-themed “London” look. The new style features an off-white canvas base layer for the upper, adding tan suede for the toe and heel overlays. Dark chocolate brown leather dresses the heels and Swooshes, with matching laces and midsoles to complete the look.
