Nike’s Air Trainer 1 is celebrating an anniversary this year, and the Swoosh has already revived a number of classic colorways alongside a healthy dose of new styles. This week, the AT1 surfaced in a premium ‘Tokyo 2003’ edition, coming soon.

Nike’s anniversary celebrations for their classic sneakers are always fun for fans of each unique silhouette. This year, in addition to the Air Max 1’s birthday, another Tinker Hatfield-designed classic, the Air Trainer 1, is also celebrating thirty-five years on the market. So far, we’ve seen several classic colorways of the silhouette surface for release, including a retro style of the ‘Shima Shima‘ Japanese exclusive from 2003. Now, a new ‘Tokyo 2003’ pair has emerged, though this new style’s backstory has yet to unfold. The look features a perforated white leather base, with black crocodile leather overlays along the heels and mudguard. Tumbled black leather makes up the quarter panels and toe box, while a white croc leather Swoosh completes the premium feel. Though the meaning behind it is currently unclear, TYO ’03 branding comes in the form of a hangtag and embossed logo on the outer heels.
