Last Fall, Nike announced their first-ever retro release of the 1999 Air Max Sunder, after a successful collaboration with CdG in 2022. This week, we have gotten release dates for their first round of colors for the turn-of-the-century running shoe, with the bright pink “Fuschia Flash” pair dropping in August.
The Air Max Sunder from 1999 is back this year, reviving yet another wild Air Max silhouette from the Nike archives. The model has bene gaining popularity online over the last few years, kickstarted by CdG’s unlikely collaboration featuring the model back in Summer 2022. Since then, the lust for the sleek silhouette’s return has grown exponentially, and Nike has obliged, bringing us a handful of new colors over the next several months. The return of the Sunder was originally teased last Fall, and will kick off next month with the release of the “Canyon Gold” style. Additionally, a bright pink “Fuschia Flash” pair is set to follow, arriving in August.
This color scheme of the AM Sunder features a highlighter pink shade across the shoe’s zippered neoprene shroud. The mudguards come in black, with white rubber perforated overlays for better airflow, and pink Air units in the midsoles. In other related release news, Nike has announced a Gore-Tex lined set of colorways will release in Spring 2025.

Nike’s first release of their retro Air Max Sunder is set for July, though this bright pink style is coming later this Summer, on August 8th, 2024. The “Fuschia Flash” pair is one of the three initial colorways releasing over the next few months, and will be available from the SNKRS app and select retailers for $180.
