New Balance’s upcoming XC-72 silhouette has yet to officially launch, and already we have an early look at an exciting new colorway in the pipeline. Dressed in shades of blue with a flash of yellow, the “Bluebird” XC-72 is coming soon.
The New Balance XC-72 is one of the wildest new styles we’ve seen from the Boston brand in the past few years. While other recent new models like the 327 and 237 feel both tame and athletic in their design, the XC-72 is like their alien spaceship equivalent. Sporting an aggressive stance and some interesting lines, the key feature of the new silhouette is the striking rubber outsole that wraps up and around the outer toe of each shoe. This week, we have an early look at another new color scheme for the XC-72, this time mixing the silhouette in a palette of blue tones with some bright accents. The look begins with a sky blue mesh base for the upper, reinforced by a dusty blue suede toecap. The heel counter comes in black, with a hint of royal blue underneath, while the tongue is added in a striking yellow tone that extends into the toe box. Finally, white New Balance ‘N’ logos and split black and gum outsoles complete the look.

New Balance’s upcoming launch of the new XC-72 silhouette has been officially slated for release, later this month on September 18th, 2021. The bright multicolor look seen here will likely lead the charge, releasing from both New Balance and select retailers like BSTN for $130 a pair.
