New Balance is building a new franchise of silhouettes from their archival shoes, titled the X line. This week, we have our first look at the next silhouette that will debut next week on July 1st: the X-Racer.

The New Balance X-Racer is the second silhouette to be added to the brand’s new franchise, which launched last Summer with the X-90. As with its predecessor, the new X-Racer takes heavy inspiration from past New Balance models, this time focusing on releases from the mid-90s to early 2000s, like the M1000, M1200, RC205, and the outsole of the famous 1400. Beginning with a mesh base layer, the New Balance X-Racer adds leather and plastic overlays on either side for reinforcement and color blocking. The latest X silhouette will launch in three initial colorways, plain white with turquoise and teal, a turquoise-based pair featuring matching overlays to the first, and finally, a navy blue-based look with black overlays and orange and white accents.
