New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio has been putting out exciting new projects all year, and the latest is no exception. Check out one of the first original silhouettes designed there, the New Balance MSCRC.

The Tokyo Design Studio is back, this time with a brand new silhouette to take on the coming Fall months. New Balance first unveiled the existence of this branch of their design team last month, when they had tapped six unique Japanese retailers to help reissue the 996. Now, the Tokyo Design Studio has something new to show off this month, one of their first original silhouettes.

Titled the New Balance MSCRC, the new sneaker is heavily inspired by other hiking apparel and footwear and boasts the materials to prove it. The shoe is constructed from a variety of tough outdoor textiles, from Cordura’s rugged fabrics to ripstop nylon. The MSCRC features two layers, a weather-resistant inner bootie that conforms to your foot, and a mesh and suede outer layer that helps keep you locked in during casual wear or grueling hikes. The New Balance MSCRC will be available in three colorways at launch, white, black, and something in between that adds accents of teal for an eye-catching look.
