The New Balance 997 has been on fire recently. Following high profile releases from various collaborators and the brand itself, the classic 997 is rolling out in a luxrious new makeup this month, simply titled “Elevated Basics”.

New Balance’s fan-favorite 997 has seen a lot of shelf time this year, from special-edition in house releases to collaborations with Bodega, Horween, Redwing, and more. Now, the vintage runner is back this week as part of another special project, this time curated entirely by New Balance’s in-house team. Titled “Elevated Basics”, this refreshing take on the classic 997 is a not-so-subtle nod to New Balance’s association with not only high fashion, but also as a part of a man like Steve Jobs’ everyday uniform. This version of the 997 begins with a denim underlay, replacing the 997’s standard mesh with something a little more sturdy and durable. Then, the 997 is overlaid with a variety of different leathers, some suede, some smooth, and some tumbled, all in varying shades of brown. The shoe’s inner lining comes imn a dark red wine-like color, while a plain white midsole completes the look.
