New Balance spent the past week in Hong Kong, debuting their new “Grey Store” pop-up that celebrates their history of flat grey colorways by selling just that- strictly grey products. Now, the footwear from this project will see a wider release as a part of the upcoming “Grey” pack.

Since the 1980s, New Balance has issued nearly every single shoe they make in a standard-issue grey colorway, one that appeals to the sensibilities of all while keeping the shoes acceptable for running, training or casual wear. Now, they’re celebrating that legacy of plain grey color schemes with a new “Grey Day” pack of the classic New Balance 997 and the more modern New Balance 997s. The original iterations of this color scheme were dreamt up to combat the eclectic, neon style of the 80s, giving runners a more toned-down approach to their footwear. Now, the varying grey tones are an absolute fan-favorite, and with construction and materials like these, they are unlikely to be available for long.
