New Balance’s lineup of new releases for Fall 2024 has added a few new members this week. Several pairs of their recent 991v2 have been added to the release calendar, including one pair of the Made in UK model in a lovely “Kombu Green” shade, coming soon.
Over twenty-three years ago, New Balance debuted the 991, a new entry in their famous 99x family arriving nineteen years after the original 990. The model was a distinct departure from its ’80s predecessors, the 990 and 995, bringing a larger, chunkier design the series with an enhanced cushioned midsole. Then, late last year, the Boston brand surprised us with an updated to the classic design, the 991v2, following in the footsteps of the OG 990 which is now on its sixth version.
The 991v2 has become a staple of their Made in UK program since its debut, after the first version launched as part of the MiUSA program in the early 2000s. They have a number of new colors slated to release throughout the rest of the year, with this week bringing us an early look at a new “Kombu Green” style. The look features a lush shade of green for the mesh and suede layers, separated by grey accents and paired with a two-toned white and off-white midsole to complete the look.

New Balance’s latest new colorway of their 991v2 silhouette has not been scheduled to release yet, but is slated to arrive sometime in Fall 2024. The Made in UK model dressed in shades of “Kombu Green” and grey comes with its usual price tag of $250.
