New Balance’s celebratory “Year of the Ox” sneaker collection adds a new model this week, with the late arrival of a special brown colorway of the classic 991, available now from select retailers.

With the “Year of the Ox” well underway, it comes as a bit of a surprise that sneaker brands still have a few Chinese New Year-themed sneakers left in the chamber, but New Balance surprised us this week with a new addition to the “Year of the Ox” collection. What originally started with two colorways of the 2002R and one bright red version of the 920, the Boston brand has now added the classic 991 runner to the project in a late addition. This version casts the elite running shoe almost entirely in shades of brown, broken up only by New Balance’s embroidered ‘N’ logo as well as a two-tone midsole.
